Children’s Ministry

AWANA was officially started in 1950 by Art Rorheim in Chicago, Illinois.  The name “AWANA” stands for “Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed” which is based from the Bible verse in 2nd Timothy 2:15 which reads, “Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not be ashamed.”

We would like to invite you to Salem’s AWANA Club on Wednesday evenings at 6:45 PM in the multipurpose building.  AWANA presents an opportunity for each child to grow in self worth as well as in his/her relationship with Christ and others.  You can help your child grow in these areas through AWANA if you:
- Encourage him/her to come each week and wear their uniform!
- Help your child to learn their sections in their handbooks!
- Show an interest in his/her achievements!
- Communicate with us for any special needs!

If you are interested in getting your child or children involved in our AWANA Club, please bring them by 6:45 PM on Wednesdays so they may take part in the Opening Ceremony which we have each week. The AWANA Club ministry ends around 8:15 PM, so please have someone ready to pick them up at that time.  If you have any questions about the children’s ministry at Salem, please contact us via the email form below.
